CLARKS SUMMIT, Penn.—Dr. Howard Bixby has been honored with several events held to commemorate his 22 years of service at Baptist Bible College & Seminary. Among the activities where faculty, friends, and staff recognized his service were special chapels at the college and seminary, and a staff reception in Jackson Hall. Dr. Bixby is retiring as seminary dean and vice president of seminary academics on June 1, but will continue to teach module classes.

“I wanted to end my leadership tenure at BBC&S while it is strong and I am contributing strongly,” said Dr. Bixby. “I do not want to be a lifetime .300 hitter who fades to .220 before moving on!”

Dr. Bixby plans to focus on assisting churches and pastors after leaving full-time service at BBC&S.

“I sense the Lord moving me to concentrate more intently on providing consultations, mentoring, and seminars for churches and their pastors. A more flexible schedule will allow this to happen,” Dr. Bixby said.

Dr. Mike Stallard, a professor of systematic theology and director of the PhD program, will succeed Bixby as seminary dean. He has taught at BBS since 1994.
