A Teen “Winter Thing”

About 130 teens and 25 adults attended the 8th annual “Winter Thing” last weekend sponsored by the DelMarVa Baptist Fellowship. Teens arrived at Evangel Baptist Church in Hagerstown, Maryland, on Friday evening for a time of praise and worship before a message by missionary Ron Onks from Australia, who spoke on the Ten Commandments.

After the message, the teens ate pizza and split up for their choice of activities. Some went to a local farm to play paintball, while others stayed in the gym for a 3-on-3 basketball tournament. Some chose to hang out at the church and play board games, volleyball, or hockey, or just to socialize. The groups came back together around 2:00 a.m. for a few hours sleep before a hearty breakfast at 7:00. Breakfast was followed by another speaking session before the teens were taken to the Whitetail Ski Resort in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, for snow tubing. The “Winter Thing” was started by area youth pastors as an opportunity for teens to be together, have fun, grow in their spiritual lives, and invite their unsaved friends to hear the gospel.
