SMITHVILLE, Ohio—Pleasant Hill Baptist Church has celebrated Rev. Stephen P. and Mary Jane Olsen’s 30th anniversary of ministering at PHBC. The Olsons began their ministry 1978, soon after Stephen completed his MDiv at Baptist Bible Seminary in Clarks Summit, Penn.
Guests who took part in the celebration included several friends from BBC (Tim Ahlgrim, Doug Compton, Ken Rudolph), Pastor Olsen’s brother and sister-in-law (Phil and Mary Olsen), a former PHBC youth pastor (Brian Hanson), and a missionary from Youngstown (Tia Shells). Alll of the Olsen’s children attended the celebration: Ben, Heather (with Brody, their 23-month-old grandson), Peter, Philip, and Rebekah.
Pastor Olsen has a rich heritage and long connection to the GARBC. His father was a pastor, missionary, and Bible college administrator; his uncle his uncle was a life-long GARBC pastor; he enjoyed the godly example of Rev. Willis Hull; and he served under Rev. Jay Long in Mehoopany, Penn.
Mary Jane continues to teach Kindergarten at Smithville Elementary School.
