16 Actions to Imitate

They allowed God’s Spirit to work in their children’s hearts and didn’t try to do His work for Him.

They shared their children’s excitement when the children discovered Biblical truths or learned Scripture verses.

They didn’t get into a rut in teaching the Word to their children.

They spent time with their children, doing activities that interested the kids.

They taught the children how to do things, such as Dean teaching Ben plumbing and roofing.

They used their spiritual gifts and other talents, and limited their service to using those gifts and abilities in areas of their God-given interests.

They didn’t wear themselves out trying to be people pleasers.

They let their children see their joy in serving the Lord. As Ben said, they served the Lord “truly from their heart and not out of perceived obligation.”

They opened their home to others.

They knew their kids’ friends and knew what their kids were doing.

They knew their kids’ strengths, interests, abilities, fears, and weaknesses.

They taught and guided their children.

They were firm.

They didn’t wear their kids out with or overexpose them to church activities.

They allowed others to minister to them.

They respected church leaders.
