Leaders of the GARBC’s state and regional associations met for a three-day retreat at Twin Lakes Camp and Conference Center, Hillsboro, Indiana.
The men first discussed ways the state and regional associations are helping their churches. Clare Jewell, GARBC national representative, said he appreciates the value of what the state associations are doing to strengthen Regular Baptist churches, especially helping churches in pastoral transition and churches that need revitalization.
The next day, through small group and large group discussions, the group spent time addressing the roles of the national, state, and local fellowships and how those fellowships can partner together.
Joining the group to provide insight were Jon Jenks, president of Baptist Church Planters; Terry Thompson, founder of Small Church USA; and Kerry Watkins, head of operations for Regular Baptist Ministries. Jon and Terry shared ways the leaders can help struggling pastors.
Kerry says the retreat “was a very profitable time of brainstorming, learning, and fellowship. We have much work to do going forward, but we are a more unified and stronger team as a result of this retreat. We are already making plans for next year’s retreat.”
