Ladies’ Retreat Builds Meaningful Relationships

Nampa2_inlineNAMPA, Idaho—Ladies at New Hope Baptist Church look forward to an annual getaway where they can grow together in Christ and build meaningful relationships with each other. As the women’s ministries coordinator, Jennilyn Parish strives to make this event a true retreat.

The weekend is packed with learning and applying God’s Word, worshiping God, playing group games, crafting, and making s’mores over a fire. The ladies can even go thrift store shopping, play tennis, hike, or just nap. Camp Pinewood in McCall, Idaho, allows for all these activities at its beautiful location just minutes from town.

The women who plan the retreat each year “are excited about using their gifts and talents to contribute to the growing and encouraging of the Body of Christ,” Parish says. “It is so fun to see the new ladies to our church come and get plugged in. . . . Our retreats always encompass a variety of ages, and this year was no different, with ages ranging from 19 to mid-60s.”

One of Parish’s favorite things about the retreat is getting to know “two or three people better than I knew them before. I enjoy the time we spend laughing as we share parenting stories, mistakes we have made, dreams, and all that we have learned or are learning in the daily life we live.” This building of relationships among all the women leads them to pray for and encourage one another and to meet needs by serving one another.

“I look forward to many more years of retreats with the ladies of New Hope and the relationships that are built and strengthened through our time together,” Parish says. “It has been a blessing to me each and every year. God continues to shape us and mold us through this retreat, and may He get all the glory!”
