BikersForChrist_inlineBRIGHTON, Colo.—The Bikers for Christ Motorcycle Ministry held its second annual Too Broke for Sturgis Run, and Community Baptist Church made itself available to help.

On Aug. 2 members from various chapters in Colorado met at Red Rocks Baptist Church, Morrison, Colo., (a Regular Baptist Press customer) for a scenic ride to the Rocky Mountain Harley-Davidson. There members of Community Baptist Church shared with riders the love of Christ, planting the seeds that may bring them to a personal relationship with Christ.

Two members of Community Baptist belong to the Mile High Chapter of Bikers for Christ. Since the inception of the Too Broke for Sturgis Run last year, they have been involved in the event’s planning and organizing as an outreach. Community Baptist helps by training its members in evangelism so they can be more effective in this ministry, and provides supplies and manpower.

In addition to serving as an outreach event, the Too Broke for Sturgis Run raised funds for a charity called Parker’s Platoon, which assists servicemen and servicewomen who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder in finding the help they need and re-acclimating back into society.

Hosting events such as this allows Community Baptist to interact with and gain the trust and respect of the biking community. In their biking environment, participants feel comfortable and are receptive to the gospel. Usually the opportunity to plant gospel seeds happens only during events like this, but when the seeds sprout, Community Baptist follows up, helping water and feed new believers in a nontraditional environment, as most traditional bikers would never set foot in a church.

It is only with time, growth in faith, and growth in knowledge of Scripture that most of these new believers join an established fellowship of Christians known as the local church.
