“Sometimes . . . God blesses you to the fullest,” says Chips Ross, pastor of Westwood Baptist Church, Fresno, California. And at the Christian Workers Retreat, God gave “good gift after good gift,” he says.

First Baptist Church, Cambria, California, hosted the Christian Workers Retreat, an annual event of the California Association of Regular Baptist Churches, Jan. 23–25. Ministry leaders studied the theme “Not Ashamed: Living and Preaching the Unpopular Teachings of Christ.” The speakers were Gregory Oliver, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Compton, California, and Bruce McLain, state representative of the CARBC.

Along with learning from God’s Word, guests also enjoyed painting with watercolors, led by artists from First Baptist; a game night, led by Dan Castañeda, associate pastor of Faith Baptist Church of Visalia, and his wife, Margaret; and hikes (“which were clarified as strolls along the beach on flat ground,” Chips says).

“We can’t wait to see what God has in store for us at next year’s retreat!” Chips says.
