Faith Fellowship Baptist Church, Kansas City, Missouri, celebrated two milestones: the 50th anniversary of the church and the 25th ministry anniversary of its pastor, Ulysses Bestey Sr.
Gathering at the church for a banquet Nov. 18, the congregation honored Ulysses Bestey Sr. for 25 years of ministry at the church. In addition to serving as pastor, Ulysses is an adjunct professor at Carver Baptist Bible College, Institute, and Theological Seminary and is a chaplain at a homeless shelter.
On Sunday, Nov. 20, the church celebrated its 50th anniversary. Joining the worship service marking this milestone was Dynamic Life Baptist Ministries, Kansas City, Kansas. Victor Clay, pastor of Dynamic Life, spoke on “Victoriously Secured by the Eternal Love of God,” from Romans 8:35–37.
Like all churches, Faith Fellowship Baptist has “felt the effects of COVID-19,” says Baptist Church Planters, which Ulysses and his wife, Augustine, have served with as church planters since 1997. But in 2020 and 2021, when Faith Fellowship Baptist swapped its in-person worship services for a virtual format, Augustine used the church’s vacancy as an opportunity to renovate the building. She led in adding a Faith Café coffee bar, giving the kitchen a fresh look, painting each room, remodeling the entrances to the auditorium and several rooms, and adding a sound booth.
The church family thanks the Besteys for their faithful ministry. And the Besteys, say Baptist Church Planters, pray “that every church member will continue to strive to know Him more and to make Him known to those who cross their paths.”
