Ruth Arlene Hull, a pastor’s wife, died June 17. She was 94.
Ruth was married for 58 years to Willis Hull Jr. Together they served in ministry at First Baptist Church, Elyria, Ohio; Grace Baptist Church, Westlake, Ohio; Faith Baptist Church, Amherst, Ohio; and three churches in New York.
Ruth was a faithful pastor’s wife and instrumental in establishing four Christian schools, including First Baptist Christian School of Elyria, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2026. Ruth later taught English, speech, and journalism at Avon (Ohio) High School before retiring in 1999.
Ruth loved to teach and was an excellent public speaker. She engaged in teacher training, women’s conferences, and missionary support in Ohio, New York, Australia, and South America.
She also found joy in hospitality, teaching Sunday School, playing piano and organ, sharing Scripture, and nurturing her family. Ruth’s life reflected Proverbs 3:5–6, trusting in the Lord with all her heart. Her life’s song was one of joy, excellence, and service to others.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Hull Jr.
Ruth is survived by her four children, Jackie Schiller (Mark), Willis Hull III (Marianne), Sue Johnson (Howard), and Jenny Miller (Roger); 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
