Russ Farrell, Pastor

DES MOINES, Iowa—Russ W. Farrell, an evangelist and pastor, died Feb. 8. He was 89.

Russ served for several years as a full-time evangelist with Dr. Bob Sumner Ministries and for six years in home missions work. As a pastor, he ministered at Adelphi Calvary Baptist Church, Runnells, Iowa; First Baptist Church, Monroe, Iowa; Knoxville (Iowa) Regular Baptist Church; Heritage Baptist Church, Moberly, Missouri; and First Baptist Church, Prairie City, Iowa. He was also an interim pastor at Grace Baptist Church, Corwith, Iowa, and founded Altoona (Iowa) Regular Baptist Church and Northwest Heights Baptist Church, Wichita, Kansas.

In retirement, Russ assisted his grandson at Calvary Baptist Church in West Des Moines, Iowa. In addition to his church service, Russ was the founder and director of the Knoxville (Iowa) Regular Baptist School and president of the Iowa Chapter of the American Association of Christian Schools.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Merilyn; his children, Becky and Doug; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
