Richard Blades, former state representative of the DelMarVa Baptist Fellowship, died December 16. He was 82.
Richard served as pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Georgetown, Delaware, for 35 years; chairman of the Delmarva Baptist Fellowship; and pastor of First Baptist Church, Laurel, Delaware for six years. While pastoring First Baptist Church, he also served as state representative of the DelMarVa Baptist Fellowship.
“Pastor” was more than just Richard’s title. It truly described his deep reservoir of love for people and his desire for them to know the love of Christ that completely defined his life.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; two children, Traci Makowski and Jami Kaiser; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
