Mary Davisson, Pastor’s Wife

CANAL FULTON, Ohio—Mary Davisson, a pastor’s wife, died on Sept. 7 at home with her husband, Dorsey, at her side. She was 65.

Upon marrying Dorsey, her college sweetheart, in 1969, Mary began joyfully serving alongside him in church ministry at First Baptist Church, Ashland, Ohio; First Baptist Church, Tipton, Ind.; Hope Baptist Church and Hope Baptist Christian Church, Alexandria, La.; Village Baptist Temple, North Canton, Ohio; and Cornerstone Baptist Church, Massillon, Ohio. Since 2005 she had been pastor’s wife, organist, and Sunday School teacher at Canal Fulton Baptist Church.

Mary was also employed at Malone University in the School of Nursing for 20 years, retiring in 2005. She most recently completed ThM and ThD degrees at Andersonville Theological Seminary and taught English at Massillon Baptist College.

Mary is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dr. Dorsey A. Davisson; a son, Allen; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 12 at 11 a.m. at Massillon (Ohio) Baptist Temple, 1219 Overlook Ave. S.W. Friends may call at  Schneeberger Funeral Home in Canton on Thursday, Sept. 11 from 5 to 8 p.m., and at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
