Charles Porter, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Oceanside, California, died February 3. He was 91.

In September 1957 Chuck and his wife, Caroline (whom he had married that June), joined the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism as missionaries. They labored together mostly in Peru to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the people there.

For the next 44 years, Chuck used his spiritual gifts to share the gospel, start churches, strengthen believers, write courses to train Christian leaders, and serve the Lord in whatever way presented itself.

After retiring from active missionary service, Chuck continued to write training courses, he participated in missions trips, and he served as assistant pastor and then pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Oceanside, California, until his death.

Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline, on February 20, 2020; his stillborn son, Nathan Thomas Porter; and his daughter Lynn Porter.

He is survived by his daughter Pam (Tim) Hewitt; three granddaughters; and five great-granddaughters.
