MOUNT AYR, Iowa—Charles Burdette Hawkins, a pastor and minister of the gospel for over 50 years, died Feb. 9.
Charles pastored churches in Monroe, Iowa; Washington, Iowa; and Algona, Iowa. He was also the camp director at a church camp in Indiana before resuming his role as a pastor in Webster City and Mount Ayr, Iowa. He retired from Mount Ayr Regular Baptist Church.
While living in Washington, Iowa, Charles received his teaching certificate from the University of Iowa. He was board member emeritus at Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Phyllis; three children, Barbara Hamburger, Cecilia Kempf, and Gordon; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
