Calvary Baptist Church, Evart, Michigan, called Curtis Rider as pastor. He had been associate pastor of student ministries at the church since 2019.
Following Pastor Scott Farrell’s retirement after 20 faithful years in the pulpit, Curtis accepted the call on September 13.
He says, “It is a privilege to continue to teach, serve, and love this local body of believers as we seek to understand God and His will together.”
Curtis received a BA in pastoral studies from Moody Bible Institute and an MA in pastoral studies from Moody Theological Seminary. He has a heart for communicating God’s truth, love, and generosity, not only through what he preaches, but also by how he lives.
Curtis, his wife, Anneliese, and their children, Graham (2) and KyrahAnne (6 months), spend much of their time investing in Evart’s youth. They attend sporting events, school functions, and rodeos and support anything else the teenagers are proud of. Curtis also helps coach the girls’ varsity basketball team at Evart High School.
Anneliese is a middle school librarian and writes middle grade mystery and adventure stories (The Finley Pike series) conveniently set in a small town that closely resembles Evart.
“This church is a family. Through thick and thin, ups and downs, easy and hard times, they have remained faithful to the Lord and each other,” Curtis says. “I look forward to seeing what God will do with this church in the future.
