Calvary Baptist Church, Forest City, Iowa, celebrated its 130th anniversary August 31 with special speakers, a guest musical group, and a fellowship meal.
In Sunday School, Charles Ellis, a retired missionary to Germany whom the church has supported, spoke on “A Fulfilling Spiritual Journey.”
In the morning service, Joshua Farrell, son of Pastor Doug and Lori Farrell of Calvary Baptist, spoke on “Building Together: 130 Years of God’s Gifts at Work in People’s Lives” from Ephesians 4:11–16. Joshua, a pastor, grew up attending the church and is now planting New Life Baptist Church, Adair, Iowa.
In the evening service, Larry Johnson, who also grew up attending Calvary Baptist, spoke on “A Vision for Church Vitality” from 1 Timothy 3:14–16. Larry is pastor of Grace Baptist Church, Mankato, Minnesota.
Special music for the day was provided by the Uplift music team from Faith Baptist Bible College, and a fellowship dinner followed the morning service.
