“Behemoth” Anniversary Sunday

TRACY, Calif.—“Behemoth” is the name Pastor Tim Heinrich deemed for his mammoth cargo trailer, naming it after a powerful beast in Job 40. In addition to serving as the “Rev It Up” VBS parade vehicle, Behemoth carries supplies across town to outfit the facility of Crossroads Baptist Church, as was the case for its fifth anniversary Sunday. Pastor Heinrich and helpers unloaded the church’s cargo of sound equipment, computer, PowerPoint projector, pulpit, chairs, portable walls, Sunday School curriculum, nursery equipment, wall hangings, coffee pots, and more—all used to transform an elementary school gymnasium into a warm and inviting church auditorium.

Planting churches such as Crossroads Baptist, established by Baptist Church Planters, takes hard work. Not only does church planting require effort in making inroads into the community and solid commitment of core members in serving, but Sunday after Sunday at Crossroads Baptist, it exacts the physical exertion of loading and unloading materials for several hours—materials that were provided by a Baptist Builders Club grant and Gospel Literature Services. On this fifth anniversary Sunday, energy abounded in anticipation of the celebration service.

As the service began, a photo slide show traced the church’s development and highlighted its ministries. The church’s teens sang, the choir ministered, and Pastor Heinrich acknowledged guests, including Pastor Kevin Maki of Deaf Baptist Church, Fremont, Calif., and Assistant Pastor Johnnie Sloan and his wife, Jaymee, from their sending church, Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, Modesto, Calif. John Greening, GARBC national representative, brought the Bible message after being presented with Crossroads Baptist shirts by Pastor Heinrich. John expressed his appreciation for the church’s positive participation and contribution in the association, and congratulated them on this significant milestone. Following the morning service, the church and its guests enjoyed an international buffet, an anniversary cake, and good conversations through signing and words. Crossroads Baptist Church’s celebration was of Behemoth proportions!
