SHELBYVILLE, Ill.—First Baptist Church held its Third Annual Block Party in September. Pastor Dan Eloe became inspired to hold the event several years ago, and God has blessed. The Block Party gives church members a way to invite friends, neighbors, and coworkers to a service that is uplifting and where the gospel is presented to those who might not otherwise come to church. The event is a mix of family fun and uplifting gospel music.
This year The Lesters performed. The Lesters’ ministry of presenting the love of God through uplifting songs that touch the soul has endured to the third, fourth, and fifth generations. The family is celebrating its 84th year in gospel music. After the concert, First Baptist served a free lunch of hamburgers, chips, salads, beverages and, of course, dessert. A variety of games and prizes kept the kids entertained. Even the adults got into the new putting green this year!
