MONTROSE, Pa.—Bridgewater Baptist Church held its annual picnic at Wolf Lake on July 26. Lunch was followed by the baptism of five children and five adults and then communion.
Fifty-six people have been baptized at Bridgewater Baptist just this year, and most have not been baptized by a pastor.
Lead Pastor Bob Kadlecik explains, “The Great Commission has been given to all of us. So we ask those being baptized if there is someone who has had a significant spiritual impact on their life who they would want to have do the baptism. Not only is it a Biblical approach, but it doubles the significance of the baptism by making it an unforgettable and often spiritually challenging experience for two people.”
Bridgewater Baptist is a growing church that received a loan from Baptist Builders Club in 2009 after outgrowing its historic 1899 building. (Read “BBC–USA Announces First Grants/Loans of 2014” and “Outgrowing a Landmark.”)
Baptized at the picnic were Zack LaRue, Wendy Reimel, Matthew Reimel, Aimee Oswald, Lydia Roman, Josh McDermott, Meghan Barlow, Shane Moyer, Nicholas Oruska, and Allison Orr.
