TOLEDO, Ohio—June 14 was the culmination of a long and triumphant road for Shane Miller, who was ordained by Emmanuel Baptist in Toledo, Ohio.
In 2002, feeling God’s call to ministry, Shane left a successful career at the post office to journey with his family to Clarks Summit, Pa. Shane earned an MDiv degree in May 2009 at Baptist Bible Seminary after interning at his home church for a year. As part of his internship, Shane and Shelley have been leading Bible studies, teaching an Adult Bible Fellowship class, conducting weekly visitation, and overseeing the Campus Bible Fellowship ministry on the University of Toledo campus.
Pastor Duke Crawford brought before the congregation his desire to see Shane ordained. The pastoral staff, deacons, and some area pastors had gathered to examine the candidate and his doctrinal positions. The ordination council gave high marks to Shane and recommended his ordination to the congregation. During the ordination service, the church presented Shane with his signed and framed ordination certificate, a Bible, and flowers for his faithful wife.
“Shane, I love you as a son,” sweetly spoke one of the pastors during the ordination service, charging Shane to be faithful to doctrine, to duty, to his deportment, and to devotion. All four pastors of EBC charged the newly ordained Pastor Shane Miller in a loving and meaningful service as his wife, Shelley, also on the platform, beamed and wiped away tears of joy.
The church took a love offering to help the newly ordained pastor purchase books for his library. Shane will continue his ministry at EBC through the end of this year. The Millers have three children: Joshua, Sarah, and Abigail.
