Berean Baptist Church, Davenport, IA, honored Pastor Mark and Arleta Baker for 35 years of faithful service on July 1. Joe Sheil, deacon board chairman, read a special tribute to the Bakers. The church presented them with a beautiful Thomas Kinkade painting. Then Mrs. Baker was given a giant cinnamon roll, made by a local bakery, in honor of her years of hospitality and great cooking. The Bakers received a card that included an invitation from a former Berean member who now lives in Australia. Along with the card were plane tickets and a scrapbook for their trip to Australia in March 2008. Berean Baptist shared, “Our Berean family has been blessed by their wonderful ministry and has taken this day to give them ‘double honor’ (1 Timothy 5:17).”
