“Have you ever had an awkward run-in with someone and can’t remember their name?” asked Grace Baptist Church, Batavia, New York.
The church gave its congregation a chance to build connections by designating the September 21 worship service Name Tag Sunday. The goal: for people to “meet someone new, remember their name, and maybe even make a friend.”
“Life is better connected,” said Pastor Jeff Bartz (above), opening the service. “And we did this this Sunday because we just want to get to know each other better.”
In addition to serving as pastor of the church, Jeff is also an Air National Guard chaplain with Regular Baptist Chaplaincy and a member of the GARBC Council of 18.
- The GARBC invites pastors and leaders of Regular Baptist churches to engage intentionally with one another. “Connections change everything,” the GARBC says. Visit Engage, a brand-new initiative designed to help pastors and leaders engage more often with others in our fellowship—because together, we can accomplish more for the gospel.
