East Side Baptist Church, Crawfordsville, Indiana, ordained Luke Franzen, a pastoral intern and worship leader at the church.
He is currently completing an MDiv from Faith Seminary, Lafayette, Indiana. “His ordination council affirmed the effectiveness of the seminary’s model of training students in the context of their local churches,” says Jon Beight, director of Crossroads Fellowship.
Jon, who is also executive director of Twin Lakes Camp and Conference Center, where Luke worked several summers, presented a charge to the church at the ordination service.
“Pastors are a gift from God,” Jon told the congregation. “[God] did not expect us to walk the Christian life by ourselves. He expected us to do it in community, and He expects us to do it in a community that is led by our pastors.”
Luke will remain on staff at the church, leading the student ministries and worship and serving as a Biblical counselor.
