Renew Women’s Conference: “Psalm 23 and Me”

First Baptist Church, Johnson City, New York, hosted the Northeast Fellowship’s Renew Women’s Conference Sept. 23–24.

Speaking on “Psalm 23 and Me,” Karen Smith, dean of women at Word of Life Bible Institute, shared powerful and personal truths from Psalm 23 about the Lord being our shepherd. In three sessions she shared how God has sustained her through the ups and downs of life. (Listen to an interview with Karen on Word of Life’s podcast.)

The women also participated in worship with seven sisters, who led the music: the Leary family from First Baptist Church, Hamburg, New York. Books and crafts filled the hallways, adding to the event. And since Karen is a quilter, the conference also included a quilt show.

Giving was also a highlight of the conference. As the Northeast Fellowship celebrated the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the event served as an opportunity to help women in crisis. Attending women donated nearly $4,000 in a special offering that will divided among multiple crisis pregnancy centers.

The Renew Conference, held annually for teen girls through adult women, aims to “encourage women to renew their minds (Romans 12:2) as they hear and accept God’s Word then live it out in their homes, churches, and communities,” says Brian King, director of the Northeast Fellowship.
