Marilee Ostrander, a pastor’s wife, died January 16. She was 94.

In 1953 Marilee became a missionary under Baptist Mid-Missions. In February 1954 she arrived in Liberia, West Africa, where she served for the next 12 years, teaching the Bible to children in the town of Tapita.

Realizing her need for a BS in education, she returned to the United States to study at Cedarville University. There she met and married Albert Ostrander, a widower who was also attending the school. Together they served as missionaries in Yila, Liberia, until a military coup forced them to leave the country in 1980.

In the United States they continued to serve the Lord as pastor and wife in Selma, Alabama, from 1981 until 1984 and at Evangel Baptist Church, Silva, Missouri, from 1984 to 1990.

After her husband’s death in 1991, Marilee continued to serve faithfully in the church as a pianist, organist, singer/soloist, Sunday School teacher, and Bible club helper. She also ministered to people all over the United States, including many prisoners, through her Mailbox Club Bible Correspondence Course, sending Bible lessons to people through the mail.

Marilee was preceded in death by her husband, Albert.
