Pastors’ Seminar & Bible Conference, Sept. 24 & 25
West Cannon Baptist Church, Belmont, Mich., invites you to attend “One Holy Mission,” a pastors’ seminar and Bible conference. For details and registration, see the seminar website.

GARBC Pastoral Cohort Begins
Beginning this month, John Greening, GARBC national representative, is facilitating the next round of online interaction among pastoral cohorts. Pastors from 14 churches—representing Iowa, Ohio, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington—are gathering to discuss current ministry issues, to share ministry know-how, and for prayer support, personal encouragement, and camaraderie. The online meeting takes place weekly for 75 minutes. The current 8-session cohort is full and a waiting list for the next cohort series is forming. If you would like to connect with a band of brothers for enjoyable and confidential interaction, please e-mail John Greening.

GARBC Resolutions Forewarn
GARBC.org
routinely posts resolutions approved in previous years’ GARBC annual conferences. Resolutions from the 1970s and 1980s address social concerns that are at the forefront of society today. For example, see the following resolutions from 1981 to 1984.
Separation of Church and State (1981)
Call for Moral Decency (1982)
Concern on Government Interference (1983)
Israel (1984)
Socialism and New Evangelicals (1984)

See GARBC documents for posted resolutions and historical literature. Resolutions will continue to be posted at www.garbc.org every Friday until the set is complete.

2013 IPFBM Conference: Save the Date!
The second international conference for the International Partnership of Fundamental Baptist Ministries is scheduled for Nov. 4–8, 2013. The conference will be held once again at the beautiful Wangree Resort near Bangkok, Thailand—a spectacular facility to build relationships and to strategize concerning our Great Commission assignment. Save the date, and begin planning for the expenses to attend. Many said that the first conference was like a taste of Heaven, as many nations were represented. It is a time of spiritual refreshment that you will not want to miss. Pray that God will be magnified as believers seek to reach the nations for His glory.

Cohort Supports Church Planters
Are you among the brave legion of church planters who are wearing a multitude of hats— evangelizing families in the community, preparing messages, organizing church ministries, stretching to meet financial obligations, and balancing between family life and ministry demands, while perhaps trying to fulfill outside job responsibilities? You are not alone. You have ministry colleagues who are experiencing many of the same challenges!

Connect with other church planters through an online cohort. You will be part of a discussion group that focuses on topics specifically chosen for pastors engaged in church planting. Enjoy fellowship and instruction among colleagues who are doing the same thing you are doing. Church-planting cohort meets every third Thursday of each month, 2 ET/1 CT/12 MT/11 PT. The next church-planting cohort meets Sept. 20. E-mail Scott Greening if you would like to participate.

Church Announcements: Remembering Your Audience
In his September e-newsletter, “The DNA Update for Church Leaders,” Dr. Don Nations gives the following advice to structure announcements to be visitor friendly: “When planning announcements in your church, consider the following guidelines to make them more effective and to help guests not feel like outsiders.

  • Limit announcements to the two or three most important items
  • Avoid reading announcements directly from the bulletin
  • Keep the announcement time to two or three minutes
  • Only make an announcement if it applies to most of the people in the room
  • Explain an announcement so that a guest understands it”
