Join a Historic Event!

In 1999 the GARBC initiated an international partnership to reach out to associations of fundamental independent Baptist church associations around the globe.  Since then fifty-four such associations have joined with us in the International Partnership of Fundamental Baptist Ministries (IPFBM).   It is time to bring us  together! You are invited to attend the first-ever IPFBM Conference to be held near Bangkok, Thailand at the beautiful Wangren Resort on November 4-7, 2009.

International speakers representing the partnership will be speaking to a variety of issues on the general theme of “Implementing Partnerships to Fulfill the Biblical Mission.”  Dr. John Greening (GARBC national representative), Dr. James Maxwell (President of Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary), Dr. Mark Jackson (first director of the IPFBM) and Chris Hindal (current director of GARBC International Ministries) will speak on behalf of the GARBC.  Other speakers will represent the Philippines, India, Myanmar, and Indonesia.

As the initiating association of this partnership, it is important that the GARBC is well-represented at the conference.  Here is a tremendous opportunity for you as a GARBC pastor to get a cross-section look at what God is doing around the world.  You will be helped and challenged by the dedication, accomplishments, and vision of our international brothers.  Workshop leaders will help facilitate a learning environment as we interact on international mission themes.  This conference will help you as a local church pastor to to better informed to lead your church in world missions.

The registration which includes the three-night hotel stay, nine buffet meals, and the conference program is only $150.00 per person.  Try to match that price anywhere in the United States! For entry into Thailand,  a passport is required, but not a visa.

For those who are interested, a two-day vision trip is planned as an add-on to the conference.  For a few extra dollars for hotel and admission fees, a tour of Bangkok is planned for the Saturday and Sunday following the conference, November 8 & 9.  The tour will include worshipping on Sunday in a Thai Baptist church.  Don’t miss this international experience!

GARBC Articles of Faith Clarified

Desiring to express more clearly our Association’s doctrinal position, the voting messengers approved the following changes to the Articles of Faith, section XIX, during the business meeting of the 2009 GARBC Annual Conference (see Baptist Bulletin):

Rapture and Subsequent Events

We believe in the pretribulational rapture of the church, an event that can occur at any moment, and that at that moment the dead in Christ shall be raised in glorified bodies, and the living in Christ shall be given glorified bodies without tasting death, and all shall be caught up to meet the Lord in the air before the seven years of the Tribulation.
1Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Corinthians 15:42-44, 51-54; Philippians 3:20, 21; Revelation 3:10

We believe that the Tribulation, which follows the Rapture of the Church, will be culminated by the premillennial return of Christ in power and great glory to sit upon the throne of David and to establish His kingdom upon this earth.
Daniel 9:25-27; Matthew 24:29-31; Luke 1:30-33; Isaiah 9:6, 7; 11:1-9; Acts 2:29, 30; Revelation 20:1-4, 6
[Section XIX was stated previously as: We believe in the premillennial return of Christ, an event which can occur at any moment, and that at that moment the dead in Christ shall be raised in glorified bodies, and the living in Christ shall be given glorified bodies without tasting death, and all shall be caught up to meet the Lord in the air before the seven years of the Tribulation. 1Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Corinthians 15:42-44, 51-54; Philippians 3:20, 21; Revelation 3:10

Resolutions Reflect Association Values

What does the GARBC value? You can learn about those values by reading the resolutions approved by  messengers from the churches since the Association’s inception in 1932. At the 2009 Annual Conference messengers approved three resolutions written by Council of 18 members paired with young Baptist pastors. The resolutions are as follows: the Resolution on the Scriptures Plainly Understood, by John Hartog III and Aaron Hand; Resolution on Prayer for Government Leaders, by Bryan Augsburger and Eric Puff; and Resolution on Gospel-Centered Revitalization, by Stan Lightfoot III and Will Hatfield. The resolutions are available in a “plain English” format so that you can share them with your church family as points for teaching and discussion.

Empire State Event for Young Adults

On July 11 the Empire State Fellowship and Breesport Baptist Church hosts  Connect, an event for ages 18-28 in Breesport, New York.
