RESOURCES FOR YOUR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
National Representative Mike Hess suggests the following resources for your ministry toolbox:

  • Audio: Listen to Christianity Today’s interview with Kevin Bauder on the topic of the independent fundamental Baptist movement
  • Reading: Looking to read more this year? Jon Cooms offers 10 tips for reading in 2019.
  • Messages and Workshops: “Essence of Worship” is the theme of the 2019 GARBC Conference, June 25–28. Worship is our expression of reverence and adoration to God. Typically, we associate worship with the music portion of a church service and discuss it in terms of style, but the consideration of worship can go much deeper. Plan now on attending the conference in Des Moines, Iowa, as speakers and teachers explore this important theme. Stay tuned for more conference information via packets that will be arriving in church offices and postings that will be published at www.garbcConference.org.

ONE-DAY BIBLE CONFERENCE: TURNING THE WORLD UPSIDE DOWN
Gospel conquest in the early church rattled worldly power structures and liberated rebel souls. Conference speaker Dan Miller, lead pastor of Eden Baptist Church, Burnsville, Minnesota, will lead conferees on a survey of the book of Acts to see the impact of the gospel on the world. First Baptist Church of Lapeer, Michigan, will host the event Jan. 19, 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

CHRISTIAN WORKERS’ RETREAT
The California Association of Regular Baptist Churches will host its Annual Christian Workers’ Retreat at Wonder Valley Resort, Sanger, California, Jan. 21–23. The conference will focus on the theme “Looking to Christ as We Look for Christ.”

LIFTING LEADERS UP CONFERENCE
Calvary Baptist Church, Negaunee, Michigan, will host the two-day Lifting Leaders Up Conference, Jan. 24–25. Host pastor Randy Reed encourages pastors and church leaders to spend time away from their normal ministry routines and spend time together in the Word, identifying with one another’s joys, challenges, and ministries as “iron sharpening iron.” Guest speaker will be Danny Brooks, formerly serving at Heritage Bible Church in Greer, South Carolina, and now involved in church revitalization in the Salt Lake City area.

RENEW PASTORS’ PRAYER SUMMIT
The Baptist Network Northwest will sponsor three days of prayer and fellowship at the Renew Pastors’ Prayer Summit, to be held at Camp Pinewood, McCall, Idaho, Jan. 28–30. Fore more information, see the Renew website.

BUILD MEN’S CONFERENCE: DARK CLOUDS, DEEP MERCY
Lakeshore Baptist Church, Grand Haven, Michigan, will host the BUILD Men’s Conference Feb. 8–9, centering on the topic “Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy: God’s Grace for Lament.” Featured speaker Mark Vroegop, lead pastor of College Park Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, says of the conference, “Our world is broken. Disappointments abound. Life is hard. And yet men are supposed to be strong. Right? Maybe. What does strength look like or sound like?” Visit Build Conferences for more information.

NORTHEAST FELLOWSHIP MEN’S ADVENTURE
Each February hundreds of men gather for a Friday and Saturday Bible conference of the Northeast Fellowship. Good preaching, practical help, great fellowship, recreational sport activities, and good food mark this ministry. This year’s Men’s Adventure will feature messages on the theme “Ready to Win” by Jon Jenks and will be held at Central Baptist Church, Binghamton, New York, Feb. 22–23.
