First Baptist Church, Hibbing, Minnesota, called Wyatt Helgeson as pastor.

Wyatt was previously the youth pastor at Faith Baptist Church, Hermantown, Minnesota, for seven years.

“Sensing a pastoral need at First Baptist in Hibbing,” First Baptist says, “Wyatt answered God’s call to serve as an interim pastor for a season then was called by the church to be their senior pastor.”

The church had been without a pastor for four years but is thankful for the “many great speakers, . . . some [who] traveled quite a ways,” and interim pastors who served at the church. Wyatt began ministering there as interim pastor in April 2025.

First Baptist thanks Brian Wiita, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, for training Wyatt in pastoral ministry. Brian participated in Wyatt’s installation service April 26.

Speaking during the service, a member of First Baptist said to Brian, “You trained him well for us, and I think he’s very capable of taking over the leadership of this church. We really appreciate what you’ve done for him and for us.”

Brian met Wyatt when Wyatt began attending Faith Baptist Church as a college freshman, studying chemistry and secondary education.

Wyatt says he “developed an increasing love for the Word of God, prayer, and the local church” after working as a camp counselor the summer after his freshman year. That experience, he says, “was absolutely life-changing for me.”

Delivering a charge to Wyatt during the installation service, Brian told him, “You have been a blessing to me and a blessing to our church, and I am so thankful for God’s direction.”

In addition to serving as a pastor, Wyatt has taught science at a public high school since September 2020.
