First Baptist Church of Kasson, Minnesota, celebrated its 150th anniversary November 9.
The service began with a slideshow of the church addition being built from 1964 to 1965, followed by the ringing of the historic church bell.
Former pastors and members shared testimonies and memories of how God worked in this small church to bring many people into personal relationships with Jesus Christ.
“Ministry is not in vain,” said Darrell Friar, state representative of the Minnesota Association of Regular Baptist Churches, speaking to the congregation from 1 Corinthians 15:58. Serving the Lord “is not worthless; it’s not meaningless,” he said. God has a plan and a purpose when we serve Him, he pointed out.
John Todor, pastor of the church since February 2013 (front center in the photo above), concluded the service by reading a member covenant testifying to God’s sustaining grace in the life and ministry of First Baptist.
“May the Lord who called this local church into being 150 years ago continue to lead us forward,” John said, reading from the covenant. “May our light shine brighter, our love grow deeper, and our witness reach further in the days to come.”
