Kevin Moses, associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Lapeer, Mich., leads a group during soccer camp.

The youth group of First Baptist Church of Lapeer, Michigan, partnered with Calvary Baptist Church, Lake City, Michigan, to lead a soccer camp. The four-day soccer camp, for ages 6–14, took place on a Lake City practice field. From 10:00 a.m. to noon each day, the kids, grouped by age, learned many soccer skills.

“Due to multiple ministry partnerships, the kids had plenty of equipment to practice with and learned a variety of drills,” says Lily Shannon, a teen ministry team member. “They also learned about teamwork through chances to play against each other throughout each morning.”

Although teaching the kids passing, dribbling, and shooting were important objectives, the camp also prioritized sharing the gospel. During snack time each day, Brian Algie, pastor of Calvary Baptist, shared a short devotional that included a fundamental truth about who God is.

“This camp was a great outreach program made possible through the collaboration of many,” Lily says. “The First Baptist of Lapeer youth group loved the time to serve and get to know the Lake City kids.”
