
John Cornelius Williams, who served God for over 60 years, died March 28. He was 91.
John, with a fellow Moody Bible Institute graduate, started and served in two churches in Chicago. Then, while serving with the Fellowship of Baptists for Home Missions, Baptist Mission of North America, and Baptist Church Planters, John started nine churches, including Berean Baptist Church, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Calvary Baptist Church, Compton, California; South Vermont Avenue Baptist Church, Gardena, California; Grace Baptist Church, Kansas City, Missouri; Waukegan (Illinois) Baptist Bible Church; and International Community Baptist Church, Lorain, Ohio.
He was also previously field director for Baptist Church Planters; vice president of Carver Baptist Bible College, Institute, and Theological Seminary; and a teacher at several Bible colleges from 2004 until 2014. He also made several trips to East and West Africa to teach and preach God’s Word. He always enjoyed preaching, teaching and reading the Word with family and friends at home and abroad.
John was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Willie Mae; seven children, Michael, Rickey, Timothy, Anthony, Carlos, Paul, and Michelle Holzaphel; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
