Calvary Baptist Church, Rochester, Minnesota, hosted a men’s event called Fire and Feast, featuring a hog roast, worship with a team of musicians from the church, and a gospel message from Jim Goodew, pastor of Grace Baptist Fellowship, Sartell, Minnesota.
Two deacons, Jason Kinniburgh and George Pappas, worked together to coordinate the feast for more than 50 people. Attendees included several men who don’t attend the church.
“Evangelism has to be more than church events,” says Greg Linscott, pastor of Calvary Baptist. “But occasions like this can encourage our men to be more deliberate and make it easier for them to start conversations that can be turned to spiritual matters and the gospel.”
Those attending were encouraged by the event. Sam Aleks, who managed audio for the evening, says, “I appreciated the amazing feast, the good conversations, the great music, and the words of testimony from Pastor Goodew.”
