William David Warren, a pastor and professor, died November 24. He was 81.

Dave was pastor of Champion Baptist Church, Warren, Ohio, from 1968 to 1976; a professor at Faith Baptist Bible College from 1976 to 1980; and a professor at Cedarville University from 1980 to 1998, specializing in pastoral ministry courses.

While serving as a professor, he also maintained an active itinerant preaching and teaching ministry in churches, camps, and conferences across the nation and at times internationally.

His love for the local church and pastors made him a natural candidate to become the state representative for the Ohio Association of Regular Baptist Churches, serving from 1998 to 2016. He referred to himself as the “designated friend” of the pastors and churches.

Chuck Pausley, now state representative, calls Dave “a faithful friend, a pastor to pastors, and an exceptional teacher and expositor of the Word of God.”

Dave earned a BA in Bible from Cedarville University in 1964, completed a master of theology in Old Testament studies from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1968, and was awarded an honorary doctor of divinity by Grand Rapids Theological Seminary in 1998.

With his wife, Pat, Dave also wrote Helping Others, part of the BuildUP Bible Studies series published by Regular Baptist Press.

Dave is survived by his wife, Patricia (“Pat”); his children, Janice (Ed) Supplee of Cedarville, Ohio; Cheryl (Steve) Brugel of Grand Rapids, Michigan; David (Michelle) of Denver, Colorado, and Mark (Darcie) Warren of Huber Heights, Ohio; and 13 grandchildren.
