The Northern California Association of Regular Baptist Churches learned about “Loving and Reaching the Stranger” at the association’s Fall Bible Conference. Crossroads Baptist Church, Tracy, California, hosted the two-day event.
Kevin Maki, international director of deaf ministries for International Partnership Ministries, served as keynote speaker, signing his four sessions while speaking.
Tim Heinrich, pastor of Crossroads Baptist, met Kevin when Tim began serving with Baptist Church Planters “too many years ago to count,” Tim says. At that time, Kevin was pastor of Deaf Baptist Church, San Jose, California.
“Kevin has been my friend and my mentor in sign language” and has helped Crossroads Baptist tremendously, Tim says. Kevin is “why we have a sign language ministry in this church today.”
Kevin encouraged attendees to be attentive to the needs of people from different cultures, backgrounds, and languages.
