Students in seventh through twelfth grades enjoyed fellowship and Bible teaching at Funtastic. Faith Baptist Church, Brainerd, Minnesota, organized this annual event, held March 23–24 at a neighboring Baptist church.
“Our activities are fun, but the focus of Funtastic is the life-changing truth of God’s Word,” Faith Baptist says.
In three sessions, Dennis Wilkening, professor of Biblical counseling at Faith Baptist Bible College, taught the theme of forgiveness.
When God forgives us, “He doesn’t just reluctantly forgive.” Rather, God fully forgives us and “with an overabundance pours out blessings on us,” says Dan Newton, assistant pastor of Faith Baptist Church, summarizing Dennis’s first message. In his next two messages, Dennis talked about forgiving others, what to do when we have wronged others, and letting go of bitterness.
What does true forgiveness look like? Dennis explained that when we forgive, we promise not to dwell on that circumstance, not to bring it up again, and not to tell other people about it.
“Jesus gives high priority to forgiveness,” Dan says. “And a mark of following Jesus is to be forgiving.”
