Calvary Baptist Church, Grinnell, Iowa, called Daniel Werts as pastor. The church installed him to the role June 15.
Speaking at the installation service were Joel Willoughby of Brains and Bibles and Dan Brown, interim pastor.
Joel Willoughby and Daniel Werts have known each other for several years, as they both attended Ankeny (Iowa) Baptist Church. Providing a charge to the church, Joel told the congregation that pastors “are a gift directly from Jesus Christ.”
Dan Brown provided a charge to the pastor. In his role as interim pastor, he guided the church to be a healthy church that’s ready to serve once it called a new pastor and provided guidance on how to care for its new pastor.
The church says that in its two years without a pastor, “we had to learn patience as a church, but we know that God’s timing is better than our timing.”
“We praise God for our new pastor,” the church says, “and with great anticipation we are prayerfully seeking how God will grow this church and reach our community with the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
