
Joseph Frank Hayes, Jr., a pastor, died November 20. He was 78.
Joe graduated from Bob Jones University and did graduate work at Bob Jones Seminary and Grace Theological Seminary.
He was ordained in 1968 as began his life in the ministry.
His ministries included Yeddo Baptist Church, Kingman, Indiana (1968–1970), First Baptist Church, Pierceton, Indiana (1970–1974), Central Baptist Church, East Chicago, Indiana (1974–1977), Saylorville Baptist Church, Des Moines, Iowa (1977–1986), Heritage Baptist Church, Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania (1986–1988), and Oak Grove Baptist Church, Kansas City, Kansas (1988–1997).
In 1998 Joe became the state representative for the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches, serving until 2014.
Each calling was very rewarding for both Joe and his wife, Marty.
Joe married Martha K. Abbott (Marty), his high school sweetheart, on June 17, 1967. She survives, along with sons James Hayes, John Hayes, and Dan Hayes and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his infant son Paul Michael Hayes.
