Richard J. Woodworth, a pastor, died December 21. He was 88.
Richard spent nearly 40 years serving as pastor at three churches: Calvary Baptist Church, Leesburg, Indiana; Highland Hills Baptist Church, Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Riverside Baptist Church, Decatur, Illinois.
In addition to his pastoral duties, he also served as board chair of Galilean Baptist Mission, board member of Baptist Mid-Missions, representative of Bibles International, and founding board member of the Grand Rapids Baptist Academy in Michigan.
In retirement, Richard led Bible studies at a county jail and small Bible study groups with neighbors and friends. Serving the Lord, caring for others, and clearly communicating Biblical truths were his lifelong passions.
He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sharon; two sons, David and Daniel; two daughters, Rebecca McElroy and Judith; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
