Ministry Fair

Building Your Ministry

Our church participated in a campaign in which we considered the Biblical purposes of individual believers within a local church body. As we emphasized the purpose of serving God by serving others, our leadership team desired to increase our congregation’s awareness of ministry needs and of opportunities to serve by including a ministry fair in our worship. Utilizing every nook and cranny of the church, ministry leaders and volunteers set up booths highlighting individual areas of ministry. Whenever possible, booths were located in the area of the building where particular ministries took place. During the worship service preceding the ministry fair, prayerfully chosen worship music prepared our hearts to hear God’s Word as our pastor preached a message on the theme “Shaped to Serve God.”

Following the inspiring message, we visited various displays representing youth and children’s ministries, music, website, building and grounds, projection and sound production, and the greeters’ and ushers’ ministries. Armed with a “Get in the Game!” brochure, which described each ministry and listed the contact people and workers’ qualifications, our congregation was ready to learn about many opportunities to serve. Participants were also given a “Where do you fit in?” game. This fill-in-the-blank puzzle was designed to encourage participants to visit every ministry display to find hidden clues. Once all the clues were gathered, participants discovered a scrambled message. Those who successfully unscrambled the message qualified for a prize drawing. Both young and old enjoyed this element of fun.

Feedback from our congregation was enormously positive. Interest in our membership class increased dramatically. The Lord blessed by filling ministry vacancies as our congregation became aware of opportunities to serve.
