Man to Man Ministry

By February 11, 2008July 23rd, 2014No Comments

Our Man to Man ministry is designed to provide accountability and encouragement to men in the church. We want men to have good friends and not succumb to the isolationism described in Proverbs 18:1, “A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; he rages against all wise judgment.”

We launched this ministry with an informational meeting (see poster). Two of our men who are burdened about this area presented the basic aim we were seeking to accomplish. Each man submitted the names of two or three men with whom he would be comfortable teaming, and the men were teamed according to their requests. Most men get together weekly for breakfast, lunch, or at another convenient time. Annually the men have the opportunity to withdraw, to get a new partner, or to request continuing with their current partner. Accountability partners ask about each other’s spiritual life, family life, work situations, and habits. Some partners memorize a Scripture passage and recite it to one another when they meet. Pairs pray together (especially for one another’s families), encourage each other, and seek to build healthy friendships. Overall it has been very good for our men.
