Our church sponsors an annual Family FunFest, offered free of charge to the surrounding community. A 5K run starts the day with approximately one hundred runners of all ages, sizes, and shapes participating. This family oriented race originates and finishes at the church. The gospel is presented to the runners as they enjoy refreshments after the race.

The FunFest continues with a carnival that runs throughout the day. It offers attractions for kids including a petting zoo, a face-painting station, “everyone’s a winner” type games with prizes, and several large-scale inflatable games for older children, teens, and adults. Last year’s big attraction was a thirty-foot-tall air slide that could be seen for blocks down our street. Local police and fire departments voluntarily monitor the Fest, and Outback Steakhouse sets up its grills on our property and provides free hamburger lunches for attendees. Last year’s attendance topped the five hundred mark, so the lunch was quite a donation. The FunFest is run by one hundred volunteers from our church, led by myself and two other team leaders. During the carnival part of the day, we have hundreds of opportunities to get to know our neighbors and promote our ministries to them. This outreach event has opened the doors to many people, allowing them to see us as more than just background as they drive down our busy street. Our goal is to show them Jesus’ love, and we pray that they’ll want to see what we’re all about as a church. God has blessed the event with tremendous growth each year and given increased opportunities for relationship-building within our community. Our church family is looking forward to another great FunFest this August.
