Community Cookout

hobart-community-cookout.jpgIn a church-wide effort to reach and serve the community of Hobart, IN, Central Baptist Church hosts an annual Hobart Community Cookout. The event offers something for everyone, including free food, giant blow-up games, volleyball, music, puppet shows, face painting, crafts, a comedian, train rides, and prizes. Individual businesses in town donate $100 each, and personnel from the businesses display their goods and services at the event. To get the word out about the cookout, the church creates professional looking flyers and posts them throughout the community. Also, people distribute flyers in their own neighborhoods.

This community event has been well received. Each year that the church has hosted the cookout, it has had an increasing number of participants. And the church has received positive feedback from the community year round. People from the church have benefited from participating in the event, as more than 100 church volunteers serve the community, create goodwill, and establish a positive reputation for the church.
