Don’t Waste Your Curriculum Resources

Take an honest look at the Sunday School classes at your church. Are teachers utilizing their curriculum to the greatest potential, making their jobs easier and increasing their effectiveness? I have the distinct privilege of working at a place that produces curriculum. I see firsthand the extraordinary level of expertise that goes into the smallest of details. Each part of the lesson and every resource is examined and crafted to address different learning and teaching styles. All of this is done with the goal of embedding God’s Word in the hearts and minds of individuals in the local church.

Over the years I have personally taught Sunday School using various curricula. From a teacher’s perspective, it’s extremely enlightening to now sit in on meetings at work that are aimed at creating curriculum. I quickly realized that for years I had overlooked parts of the curriculum—parts that could greatly enhance my class. I got excited thinking about the potential that existed and started using the different resources.

Take a look at the curriculum you use. How could you or the teachers in your church enhance Sunday School? The time often goes by fast. How can you make the most of it?
