https://www.garbc.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/20/2012/10/JudyMerchant1.jpgIn June 2012, Judy Merchant, wife of Pastor Dan Merchant of Cedar Street Baptist Church, Tipton, Iowa, was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in the upper lobe of her right lung. On July 25, she underwent surgery to remove the tumor, but during surgery, cancer was found in all three lobes of her right lung, which required that her whole right lung be removed. The Merchants have a private healthcare insurance policy that pays 80 percent after the $4,200 deductible has been met. In addition to medical expenses, the Merchants also have travel expenses for postsurgery treatment: physical therapy, pulmonary rehabilitation, periodic CT scans, and subsequent doctor appointments.

Many of you who know the Merchants have asked how you may help financially. A benevolence fund has been established through Cedar Street Baptist’s sister church, Walnut Park Baptist Church, Muscatine, Iowa. To make a tax deductable gift to help the Merchants through Judy’s cancer treatment, write your check to Walnut Park Baptist Church (write Judy Merchant Cancer Fund on the memo line), and send to:
Walnut Park Baptist Church
215 Colorado St.
Muscatine, IA 52761

Also, please pray for pastors’ wives Melissa Brooks (http://hbcedarburg.org/melissa) of Heritage Baptist Church, Cedarburg, Wis., and Glenda Kingof Faith Baptist Church, Park Falls, Wis., who are also ongoing cancer treatment.

If you have a health need or ministry event for which you would like to garner prayer support, please submit your request to GARBC PrayerLink.
