EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio—Warren Rayford Mattox, president of the Fundamental Baptist Fellowship Association from 2000 to 2004, died June 16. He was 64. “Dr. Warren helped to develop the FBFA Transition Team and new structure for our association, which included Strategic Planning Team, Steering Council, and Functional Ministries headed by our Vice Presidents,” the FBFA says.

Mattox’s father, the late Dr. Richard C. Mattox, was one of the founders of the FBFA in 1962.

At the time of his death, Dr. Warren Mattox was pastor of Community Baptist Church, Cleveland, Ohio, and an adjunct professor for Moody Bible Institute Distance Learning. He also spoke at several state and national GARBC conferences. Prior to his pastorate at Community Baptist Church, Mattox was assistant professor of Bible at Philadelphia College of the Bible and assistant professor at Moody Bible Institute’s Graduate School.

He is remembered as an excellent teacher of God’s Word. “I enjoyed the way he taught the Word in Bible study and how he conducted his classes,” says Patricia Coleman Segedi, a former student of his. “Not only did he teach the Word, he also taught us how to study God’s Word and recommended tools to assist us with our studies. . . . It was a joy to listen to him. He was a blessing to many.”

Dr. Warren Mattox is survived by his wife, Gail; and his children, Danielle Graham, Janelle, and Cherelle.
