SEBRING, Fla.—Rose Ertle, a pastor’s wife, died Jan. 27. She was 84.

Rose, at age 27, left a position with General Motors and at once became a wife, a mother of two young girls, and a high-energy pastor’s wife. Never looking back, she excelled at all three. She served with her husband, Ted, as he was pastor of Grandville Baptist Church, Grandville, Michigan; First Baptist Church, Grundy Center, Iowa; and Brown Street Baptist Church, Alton, Illinois. After they retired, they served in several interim pastoral ministries. Their last ministry was at Maranatha Baptist Church, Sebring, Florida, where Ted was associate pastor.

In addition to serving as a pastor’s wife, Rose was also recently president of the Sunshine Ladies’ Missionary Fellowship, a ministry of the Sunshine Baptist Fellowship. A one-of-a-kind lady, she was known for her somewhat unconventional humor as a speaker and for her entertaining readings.

In 2009 she and Ted received a GARBC Service Award for actively “building the body of Christ with passion, vision, and commitment.”
