Richard “Dick” Nelson with the Lord

MAINE, N.Y.—Richard “Dick” Nelson, 80, died on July 1, 2011, after Alzheimer’s. Dick was a master electrician, founder of Nelson’s Lamp Lighters; but his greater joy was in opportunities to serve the Lord.

He was the founding pastor of Faith Baptist Church, Trenton, N.J.; chaplain at Binghamton University for 15 years; adjunct professor at Practical Bible Training School (now Davis College), Johnson City, N.Y.; and teacher and worker at First Baptist Church, Maine, N.Y.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lucile Nelson, and a grandson, Luke Nelson.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara; five children, Judith, Mark, Bruce Nelson, Suzanne Noreika, and Philip; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Winifred Ayers.
