Phyllis Jean Smith, Pastor’s Wife

FREMONT, Mich.—Phyllis Jean Smith, pastor’s wife, died Dec. 1 at age 78.

She was reared in Chicago and was a 1955 graduate of Bob Jones University. Phyllis served the Lord with her husband, Pastor Earl Wesley Smith, for 41 years. He was a pastor in Portage, Middleville, and Newaygo, Mich.; and Chico, Calif.; and associate pastor in Detroit, Lansing, and Bailey, Mich.

Phyllis was a teacher and a member of First Baptist Church, Newaygo, Mich. She loved to sing and played the organ, piano, and flute.

Survivors include her husband, Wes; their two sons, Gordon and Brian; and seven grandchildren.
